School Bug Battles
Video Transcript
Principal Cindy Wilson: "Pretty much almost every room said that they had ants and roaches. And it got to the point where--it's funny, the teachers would say, 'I lassoed one roach today walking through my room and rode him.' They were getting to be huge. It was pretty bad.
"They came to me and said we have a new program we'd like you to try and would you be able to accommodate us and be the ... be one of the three test schools. And I, of course, said yes because we were searching for help at the time.
"They bait and see where you have problems and then they address those issues. And they come back and follow up. It's not that ... they're not going to walk in and spray your building or bomb it. But they're truly going to investigate what's causing the problem and get to the root of it.
"I've learned a lot. It's been very interesting to me, in the fact it's helped the students. It's helped us stay if not bug-free, then greatly, greatly reduced.
"85 to 90 percent reduction. They've helped in every area--the cafeteria, the custodial rooms, the classrooms, and the offices.
"It's safer for the students, and if it's safer and cleaner for the students, then it's better for the school."
