The Natural Resource Extension Agent will be responsible for conducting technology transfer and Extension educational programs designed to improve water quantity, quality and preservation of natural water bodies as well as management of native and invasive species in natural areas.
Loss of wildlife habitat and green space is due largely to encroachment of improperly managed invasive species. Non-native invasive plant and animal species are those that exist outside their natural ranges and form self-sustaining, expanding populations within communities with which they were not previously associated. Learn about these invasive plants and animals.
Extension programs teach residents and professional land managers to manage existing natural areas to benefit wildlife conservation efforts. Educational programs will be designed to teach people about sea turtle friendly beaches during nesting season.
The Florida Master Naturalist Program is conducted in St Lucie County.
