The Horticulture Program offers research-based information to assist homeowners, horticulture professionals, and youth in landscaping and gardening practices. We offer educational programming and diagnostic services to promote healthy plants and protect natural resources. We also assist with best management and pesticide licensing training for professional certification. Master Gardeners are a dedicated group of volunteers certified by UF IFAS Extension. Volunteers are able to serve the community through horticultural education. They address important issues such as water quality or pesticide safety, assist homeowners with gardening questions, help schools establish learning gardens, develop educational materials, and participate in various community horticulture events.
All Horticulture Professionals who need to apply pesticides and fertilizers as part of their job are required by the Florida Department of Agriculture to have a license. Learn about the different licenses and training opportunities. Also visit our calendar for upcoming training classes.
